Is Decaf Coffee Really Caffeine-Free?
Decaf is a fair question, especially late in the day. The short answer: decaf is not completely caffeine-free, but it's very close, and it still tastes like real coffee.
How decaf is made
Decaf coffee has most of its caffeine removed from the green beans before roasting, usually with water or a gentle solvent process. A good decaf keeps the flavor while taking out the vast majority of the caffeine.
How much caffeine is left
A cup of decaf typically has a small fraction of the caffeine of a regular cup, often just a few milligrams. For most people that's low enough to enjoy an evening coffee without it affecting sleep.
Who it's for
Order decaf if you love the ritual and taste of coffee but want to wind down, or if you're cutting back. A decaf cortado or latte in the evening is a quiet, satisfying way to end the day.
