What Is a Mocha? Chocolate and Espresso, Done Right
A mocha is the friendly meeting point of coffee and chocolate: espresso, steamed milk, and real chocolate. It's a latte with a chocolate heart.
What goes into it
Espresso is combined with chocolate, then topped with steamed milk and often a little foam or cream. Good chocolate matters here; it should taste like actual cocoa, not just sugar, so the coffee still comes through.
Mocha vs. latte
A latte is espresso and milk. A mocha adds chocolate, which makes it sweeter and richer and a bit more like a treat. If a plain latte feels too simple, a mocha is the easy upgrade.
Make it yours
Ask for less chocolate if you want the espresso to lead, or iced if you want it refreshing. A pinch of salt or a shot more espresso keeps it from getting too sweet.
